OMG!

Juat watched a movie on TV with some soundtrack from The Point! How did I forget about that?

I mean, seriously, 20 million points if you get what I am talking about.

When 1+1+1 does not equal 3

Who would have thought three pretty ugly things:

Possum

Merino Sheep

Silkworm

could turn into something so scrummmmmmy??

OOOOooo what a treat!!

What will it turn into next?

Reason to have children #457

They make a great mini workforce.

Today we went to blokey husband's work and moved him to a real office. Children were put to work ferrying books and electronics and general pap.

I discovered that working in an office environment would suck the very essence of life out of my soul. Especially one filled with endless partitions of messy engineer boys.

I Want To Make Some Artwork

she said out of the blue. And it made me happy.

P3: I drew something with a beak, that starts with a CH

(It sounded a lot like a DR, but given that she is three and has a fat lip full of ulcers from the table-dive *still* I was impressed when I worked it out anyway.)

It's a chicken!

And here's the proud girl even though the first pic attempt (with flash) was so bright you couldn't see the chicken, and the second attempt (without) was dull and blurry.

But you get the happiness and pride and forgive my nasty cameras and lack of skill eh? She is a pretty good poser for sure.

A Strange Happy Face and A Poem And A Song For You

I tired to blog this poem before but I think it was when blogger was on the blink. If not, I'm repeating myself. You probably won't notice though eh?

Be nobody's darling;
Be an outcast.
Take the contradictions
Of your life
And wrap around
You like a shawl,
To parry stones
To keep you warm.

Watch the people succumb
To madness
With ample cheer;
Let them look askance at you
And you askance reply.

Be an outcast;
Be pleased to walk alone
(Uncool)
Or line the crowded
River beds
With other impetuous
Fools.

Make a merry gathering
On the bank
Where thousands perished
For brave hurt words
They said.

Be nobody's darling;
Be an outcast.
Qualified to live
Among your dead.

Made Stuff

I made a dress. Okay I didn't trace the pattern (link to a few days ago on the blog - oh who can be faffed?) I bought a new one. But only because patterns were half price and it had pleats to make me look like I have boobies. Ha.

This is one attempt at taking my own picture in it:

Yeah, looks alright eh?

And I made sushi for lunch, which was all good up to about this point:

And then it all went downhill.
So, y'know, today not really about the pictures.
Or the stories.
Maybe tomorrow?

Cannelloni

Fun.

Losing the house you want to buy because you can't sell yours in time to put an unconditional offer on and someone else is going to instead? Not fun.

Not meant to be is all you can think. Cannelloni fun helps too.

Colouring

I know the Playcentre believers would squirm in horror, but today we got colouring in. We printed off a whole bunch of Escher pics (I stole the idea from someone who had an Escher colouring book). I knew they would appeal to L6's logical brain.

This evening L6 and Dad payed chess while P3 and I played Who's Who. I was really impressed at her ability to hold her own and come up with new questions, bizarre though they were ("Does your person have black eyebrows?") but the logic was slightly amiss as we came up with the wrong person. Twice.

Heath Robinson

Today L6 got very excited creating a "Rake cobblestone firing machine".

While P3 dangled from the table, again, and gave herself a fat lip. Argh! She told me "There was byood" - that's blood when you can't say your 'L's - "like tomatoes." A similie! Genius.

Oh, the topppling off the table? Not so genius.

Tricky Chickens

I thought that the cold was slowing down the prolific daily egg rate of Tallulah and Panama Bob. I've been trying to feed them up a bit to cope. But nope. Turns out they had just found a new place to lay.
And here's my other tricky chicken.
P3-speak today:
Mum, when we first bought our house... how did we carry it?

Is it art?

The C Word

Okay, so I know Consumerism is a dirty word. But how about Cotton?

Wallace Cotton sample and seconds sale to be precise. Ahhhhh. . . I know I'm as shallow as a mudflat. Still, ahhhhhh. . .

See this? It's Another Announcement.

This is me and my friend L about four years ago. Which is barely anything since we have known each other over 3 decades. After looking at school photos with her today there is No Way In Hell I'm going to add one of those pics because wow my hair was weird. But anyway, back to the topic.

This is (from left to right) my first child with her second and third. And you have seen her fourth (P1) feature in this blog I'm sure. So now. . . there's going to be a number five!

Yep. Five.

And she has asked for a Big Announcement, because sadly, when you get to five people start to look at you funny. Or so I gather from her comments.

Which is sad because she is a rocking mama and number five is going to be a very lucky individual who is very much loved, and we await his/her arrival with much excited anticipation.

Hugs and congrats to the T family!

Fifty

L6 wants to change his name to Fifty. Can you see why?

He sat and did all this himself this afternoon while I paid the company bills. He wants to send this work to Bunce, so I told him we could send it to Aunty Izzie's house because Bunce is there at the moment, but he might have left before they arrive.
L6: That's alright. We'll put a note in that says 'Please send these on to Bunce'. No, 'Please send these on to Paul'. No, 'Please send these on to your Dad' because that's who Bunce is.

Hat Day

In which I finish knitting a hat and demonstrate that I am completely funny looking and no supermodel

P3 carries on the nappy as headwear trend (just in case you are concerned, we sell them, so it was sparkling clean) and creates envy with her glorious hair once again

and then pulls her cheesiest Madeline face

Cute things she said today:

Me: P3, can you please close the door?

Ignore

Me: P3, can you please close the door?

Ignore

Me: Madeline, can you please close the door?

P3: *gasps* But I don't have my hat on!

Because really, one can only be Madeline when wearing the correct hat.

I also like:

*said to Daddy with cheesy face on* So what have you been up to today Miss Clavel?

The Big Announcement

Somedays there is nothing much (as you can tell) to blog about. And then other days at least three things happen at once. Grrrr. . .
So today I went on a sunny day adventure with my mate L and her daughter P to somewhere that was quaint enough to be country, but city enough to have good galleries and shopping. Not that we bought anything, just nice to look. There was a lovely cup of tea

nature

and two beautiful girls enjoying lunch out.

(Oh and two old ladies too, but I didn't get a pic of them.)

When I got home I discovered it was true, I really am selling my house so please let me know if you wanna buy it. Otherwise I'll stay here, 'cos um... it's quite nice.

So that's enough for a blog post eh? You don't need to know anything else.

Oh, except that my big sister, Aunty Izzie, is having a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A baby boy no less!!! Which is pretty huge in our family. We are kinda slow on the baby front. It's only been 14 years since she last did it ( ;-) had to add that) so now Miss M13 is gonna be a big sister. And M, I think you will be the best big sister ever. And they are a pretty good thing to have, believe me.

XXX to the H family. Congrats. Any happy jumping up and down comments gratefully received.

Not The Big Announcement

Today was supposed to be the day of The Big Announcement. But since my parents are away and they might not be given all the exciting news until tomorrow, I have delayed it. Just in case they manage to get internet on their wee adventure and I spoil the news tonight.

So. . . yesterday there was sickness and I was bad mummy and we watched hired videos to get through the afternoon. Today we kept away from school just in case, but things were fine, so despite the nagging we were back to our usual afternoons of playing.

And creating. P3 shows off the telescope she made at kindy

L6 tests parachutes for Baboo

It's so weird how I love them to draw, and yet providing drawing things and drawing with them has little effect. But give them a washing basket to transform into a boat, and the whole afternoon is spent on making acccessories.

Is there anything better than seeing your little boy busy at the writing table?

And just so you don't think I'm too soft, P3 discovers her mean side, running off and screwing up L6's lifesaver and chucking it is some water.

It's a pretty small mean side, so she did well to find it. Her explanation "I think it's funny, I laugh a hahaha" while obnoxious, is also the cutest thing in the whole world and really hard to discipline. Luckily I'm tough old mean mummy.

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Today I had one of those really down to earth mothering days. By that I mean my son vomited on my head while snuggling in bed this morning. It got worse, and you'll be pleased to know I did not have my camera for the large bowl of vomit in the car episode.

But there were much nicer things to remember about today too. Velvety damp children, fresh from bath. This is 'Helene', the cook from the Madeline stories, writing a recipe in her book.

And this one?

Yeah, he came right pretty quick too.

All my pictures were terrible today. My camera no longer focuses, and Matt's flash was turned off. But there were new umbrellas and running in wet leaves.

P3 did better than me for sure. I quite like the photo essay she created quietly while I played chess with L6.
