I haven't got anything smart to say. Just a picture (or a few) a day to help us remember these busy growing years.

Luckiness
We are so lucky to have the bush only minutes (walk that is) away. And we are also lucky that L&P have lovely friends to share it with.

Best mates. And check out P4's posiness! Yeah, I know, she has put lipstick on her cheeks. That's never been modelled to her I promise.

Looks like a nothing picture until you do a close up. . .

What is it about boys eh?

There's nothing like a stream at the end of the day. . .

Chook Love
It's not only school holidays, it's also the beginning of daylight savings. Feels like summer is on the way. We spent much of the day making improvements to the chicken jail to stop the escape artist. The chickens spent the day enjoying dirt baths. Not such a good look for a white chook.

We'll get them as tame as Panama yet.

P4 decided to have her own chicken-style bath on the deck. There was a lot of flapping.

L7 enjoyed just sitting and watching,

and then set about making a ladder with a feeder at the top to entertain the girls:

Maisie is smart - she got it!

IAMOO
I've looked and looked and looked, and I completely cannot find the post I need to link to. But anyway, quite a while back L7 (when he was still L6 I imagine) called me into his room and showed me a piece of paper than had I A MOO written on it. Now I'm not the smartest mummy and I didn't really understand the cow sentiment until he told me it said "I am [infinity symbol]". Aunty Izzie liked this story, and kindly volunteered a work of art based on it. Which arrived yesterday. . .

He's a happy boy - thank you Aunty Iz! Tried to ring you today, but will try again tomorrow. Late even, because yay - daylight savings! :)

Happy Birthday Grandma J!

We went out to a local moon festival for the evening. P4 tucked in to dinner gamely trying the chopsticks. She can kinda do it - with a little bit of help from the other hand.
L7 played Happy Birthday on his guitar to hide the fact that none of us can sing.

But most of the day was spending worrying and chasing after a little white escape artist.

Who would have thought we'd be hanging a ladder over the fence and popping small pieces of cheese on each rung? Because no-one can resist cheese eh? I can happily report that after twelve hours of AWOL chicken, and much skulking around the neighbour's garden with torches in the pitch black this evening to no avail, we found Maisie. . . cuddled up at home in the coop. Cheese must've worked!

Zen Garden
A real, life-size one.

We're making a lawn area down the side of the house. The chickens will be the lawnmowers.

Style
L7 was overdue a haircut. I asked him if he wanted one, and he said he wanted "a cool one". I knew that was beyond me, so I took him to the hairdresser. They just cut it really short, but he's happy. As well as scarily grown up looking.

And I'm hoping that the kindy teachers know that the outfits P4 turns up in have more to do with her style choices, than mine. Here she is this morning, posing with the box for my rings that she made me:

And here, just posing:

There were tears about my refusal to let her wear my old glasses to kindy.

Bang
The biggest storm in the world at the moment is just off our coast, so we decided it'd be a good day to stay home and play monopoly

which made L7 pretty happy

but there's only so much monopoly a person can stand, so we went out with Grandma J and braved the wind on a very exposed volcano

and listened to an army band (which didn't have the sense to cut it short due to the weather, brrrrrrrrrrr) waiting for the highlight of the 1812 overture with real guns

which were precisely loud enough to generate tears from P4. Whoops.

Writing and Playing
P4 has been dressing up as a nurse today, handing out prescriptions.

With a little bit of mardi gras thrown in at times.

TGIF
P4 is not much better, but now has medicine. Phew. And is stonkingly brave and glam when ill. That's not mascara, that's oozing infection.

L7 is enthralled by my $2 ex-library score of the Guinness Book of Records from 2001.

Cheers.

All Lined Up
P4 and I just hung around all day. Not a thrilling blog topic.
She made our cupboard into a cool shop:
Don't know if you can see her signs, here:
I tidied stuff. Okay I bought some storage to inspire me. Lookie at this cool fanta tin suitcase I found for my pile of tut beside the computer:
I also got some baskets for the ancient and recently revived record collection that has been kicking around the floor for the last few months:

Going through the record collection is always pretty scary. Most of Blokey Husband's old vinyl makes me shudder in horror:

I know you shouldn't take the piss out of someone's records from twenty years ago, but it's still fun. Check 'em out - teehee:
Hair baby!

Actually, I should be thankful to those guys for desensitising him, or he might not have married me. At least I never had the bandanna.
Anyway, my point was, I actually found something exciting in there when I was slavishly tidying. Remember these guys:

Okay, that wins the worst photo ever on blog award - plain black square with large flash splodge eliminating title - but yay, Shriekback album. Silver lining to tidying.
Heh, the video is pretty funny now. Toilet paper masks and all.

Creepy Old Conjunctivitis
My eyes are still gunky!!

Although not as green and snotty as they were yesterday, they are still pretty sticky and swollen, but I'm still smiling.

A wee butterfly that arrived in the post helped make today cheery :) Thank you!
