Saturday Baking

Croissanty morning rolls for lunch. Nom, nom, nomity nom. Almost as good as an island holiday getaway eh? ;-)

(Wish I had put cheese in them though. Everything is better with cheese.)

Makeovers

Just this year P10 decided she reaaaaaaallllly wanted her ears pierced. We agreed that she could save up for it, and we would allow it once she was able to have a flu vaccination without making a huge fuss. On Thursday, she cracked the no-fuss-vax. Today, there was a little bit of panicking, but with the help of a very reassuring and empathetic piercing lady, she got there.

One proud girl.

She wrote a thank you letter for me to drop in.

L13 got a bit of a makeover too, as he agreed to a haircut. He's always reluctant (oh the decisions, the stress, the interaction!) so we took him right away.

Tidy.

More realistic :)

Finally got brave enough to paint her today.

Making a little series.

I finally finished!! It took close to two years, just 'cos I'm a slacker (and got a bit confuzzled for a while) but I won. Thank you for the birthday prezzie M&B :) Here's the back, before first wash, of P10's quilt.

I took the back because it shows how I went for crazy quilting patterns. I decided this super wobbly bit should be called the Drunken Snail pattern. (I might patent that.)
And the front, pre-wash, in bad light.
We've all been doing some sewing. P10 started some drumstick carriers for L13, then he put loops on so he could hang them up.
 Like this:
This is the demo that M&B asked for :)

Curl

Today I was ridiculously proud of this curl.

That is probably a really shallow thing for a middle-aged lady to say eh? But dammit, find the joy, it is the truth. Even though it got in my way a bit when I had to do stuff like seeing. Here it is closer, but you have to ignore my many chins.
Let's face it, you probably didn't even notice them when you were being wowed by my one curl eh? Isn't it joyously fun?

Visual Nightmares

P10 and I painted these, which I just adore in all their nightmarish-pink-glory. Unfortunately, she hates them, with about the same passion. They give her a headache. That must say something?

Colouring

Starting a Thursday painting club with grown-up-friend-L. We had no clue what to do at first, but after a while it was so much fun we didn't want to stop. Why is that always the way?

Today I joined the Bad Mothers Club and let my ten year old put a pale blue rinse through her hair. She was so excited, and I think it was pretty innocuous. She does look kinda scary punk here though.

Botanicals

P10 and I made these pieces of art. I can't wait till we grow some poppies to use. How pretty will they be?

Creative Kids

L13 was hard at work today before I realized he was making something for me that I'd hinted about weeks ago.

I came back from boring old grocery shopping, and look what he had done!! Thank you L13, it's perfect!! No more emptying out my bag of paints all over the floor to find a colour. As well as being super useful, I just think it looks delicious. Clever chap :)

P10 also got in making mode. Seasonally appropriate, if not according to the calendar. She took our home grown pumpkin, which wasn't really impressive size-wise by local show standards, but made a great. . .

. . . one of these!

Ew, let's try that again.

Glowy!
