First Day Of The Hols

Newly working man. First day of new job - after a three month hiatus. I think he's happy.

Newly christened tree. My fave tree is now to be known as Jiminy Finkle. Aunty Iz named him of course.

Newly busted nail. Yeah, it's worse when they were so pretty. As soon as I even think about gardening I smush them though. I'm just not a good nail gal.

Perfect Days

I'm the first to admit that sometimes my nearest and dearest drive me completely BONKERS, but after being away for a few days, it's good to get that perfect, sunshiny day hanging out together.

Geeky Husband got on to the lawn.

P9 made shortbread (and had a coronation, hence the crown).

L12 washed and vacuumed the cars, in his bid for cash to fund his latest obsession - the boy is desperate for a DJ deck after his appalling music experience at the school disco.

Late afternoon inspired the creation of a spirograph gallery through the window.

And this one still going. "Make it clear" he said when I snapped a pic "that I'm not playing a silly game or anything, I'm mixing."

Which all got me a little obsessed as well, after showing him a clip of Emily Wells looping that I have known about for years, I started listening to more of her music. L12 says tonight we are all going to have Emily Wells dreams. . .

Fair thee well and the requiem mix
I got a loan shark and a quick fix,
for those I left behind, in a suit case of fire flies,
find ya, I wanna treat you right,
never leave you beggin and cryin.
Coming down the mountain in a wet carriage,
full speed like a spent marriage.
I got more than enough to keep me whole.
For once I'm not slightly out of control.
Got crazy dreams when it breaks morning,
everyday, a requiem.
These morning dreams are just like memories:
Late night, staring through the trees.
I got words for this and the way it fits:
Its all about the light and the sound around it.
Fair thee well and the requiem mix
I got a feather bed and a couple of tricks,
for those I left behind.

I'll take those dreams thanks.

Seeing Christchurch

with my sister.

A little bit broken, but still beautiful.

So lovely to be with you. Thank you for everything and I hope today didn't wear you out too much. Sleep tight tonight!
Love you xx

Iz is the writer. Her words, my bad phone pics:

Greeting from cancer hotel. It's kind of fun here! We paint AWESOME pictures because we are GENIUS PAINTERS and awesome nails because NAILS.

We seldom leave Cancer Hotel because it makes Fuffy choke.  Four nurses ran to her aid at the physio but it turned out all she needed was a bee poo lozenge.  Meanwhile I still have cancer.

Maybe.  Probably not because SURGERY CHEMO RADIO.

See how genius we are??  Also, see how specific our styles are?  Mon dieu we are a leetle bit predictable.  But genius. But predictable.  But not quite finished (absence of hair is not a metaphor, says Fuffy).  But genius.

Also, we did it while sporting these staggering fingernails.  Dali, you were very clever and all, but I bet your fingernails didn't look this fab.

Sorry for mental post but WINE.

The Unexpected

Two unexpected things happened today. I cleaned out the horrorshow that is my bag, and right at the bottom I found . . . .a tooth. No idea whose.

Excuse my ghastly nighttime phone pic, but check these out!?!? My amazingly lovely friend came over bearing what I suspect is the biggest bunch of roses I have ever been given.  Just for me for no particular reason. Feeling loved.
Ok one of the unexpected things was a bit more delicious than the other.

Día de Muertos

I'm almost done - just need to wait for this lot to dry and do one more layer of work on the bottom half and I think it'll be time to call it quits. I have had such a love/hate relationship with painting her. I was so scared to start and procrastinated ridiculously. Then I was so happy when I got the eyes in. Yesterday I loved it, today I hated it. I guess the trick is Just. Keep. Going.

Whaddya reckon? Not sure I want her on my wall!

Witchery and Falconry

Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble. . .

The Moon

Guest blogger.

P9 here- this is some writing I did in bed last night, about a fantasy moon:

Silvery eyes, giving you light in the darkest hours.
Crinkly, sparkly paper makes her body tinted with
the shiniest grey. Flowing white cloak, embroidered
with golden stars.

Walking with tiptoes, on a glistening sky, never
making a sound, sending shooting stars in every
direction. Looking through children's windows,
making sure things are all right.

A kind personality, understanding
problems, helping to patch things up.

That Moment. . .

when you paint the eyes in and suddenly your picture is looking around the room

even though she's only half alive.
