New Year's Eve

Bows and Arrows and Visiting Owls

L&P's cousin A6 had a school holiday project that gave us great fun this morning. Miss Owl came to visit all the way from The Horsell Village School in the UK, to have some adventures around the world. See her at the top of our giant sunflowers there?
And L6 had the best day after splashing out three dollars on a bow and arrow.

Winning The Booby Prize

Went to have dressings changed, and instead of making me wait another week the nurse told me the results are through.

THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF MALIGNANCY.

Phew.

It is a timely day for good news since my poor Mutti lost two family members in one day today. Hugs. I'm glad I could give you some good news on a bleak day.

Earlier in the day we had gone underneath the harbour bridge to pier two (marked 70 just like the book) to shout to the taniwha of the bridge "Tena koe Taniwha!" after reading The Guardian Of The Bridge, a Christmas prezzie from Grandma J. Did we hear a reply? But of course!

"Tena koutou tamariki ma!"

And lastly, well this seems really funny now, but maybe only because I've had a billion relief wines this evening? P3 came up to me this evening and said "This is what you wear on a hot sunny day."

Totally nudey under the dressing gown. :)

(Hope she made you smile Mutti.)

More Anglo-Rellies

They've all come over this year, so today we met the other side of the family. Cannot believe Blokey Husband hadn't met one of his cousins until today. And they were all lovely - phew. And made a big fuss of my kiddies which always helps in the love-your-new-family stakes.

There was initial shyness with much mummy-clutching of course:

Which was carefully overcome with an invitation to bake. She looks grumpy, but P3 was just concentrating hard with the fairy sprinkles of sugar:

L6 is looking just too grown up for words:

and made firm friends with yet more cousins (I can't work out the official relation title for them all - what the heck are your cousin's children to your children? And cousin's partner - who knows?!) over a tunnel-digging project. Balloons were involved, and there was much concern over the island's horses and future accidental broken ankles.

P3 has had so many late nights that the ocean got the better of her, and she feel asleep in my arms for the first time in years. I absolutely relished it.

Firm friends M-2-days-away-from-19 and Snowflake, L6 and Baboo, P3 and Big Lambie:

Family Pics And Some Interesting-ness

So the blog can get a little tedius with endless family Christmas pics, but still, here's one more. It has been lovely having the cuzzies from overseas, and we have been happy to see the little ones get on so well. So here we are at the end of 2009, and looking forward to all getting together again in 2012.

And in the spirit of un-self-conscious-ness and interesting-ness, I just have to show you my beautiful war wound. Unfortunately I don't have the kind of boobies that deserve to be splashed around on the internet, but they are so fun and technicolour at the moment it'd be a shame not to share. So if you are someone who feels they shouldn't be looking at my boobies, I have spared you by putting the pic a long way down, so just don't scroll and you'll be safe. But if you are ghoulish and want some gore (I've hidden as much of the rude bits as possible so it's really just a kind a reverse low cut dress) check out my black-fadedtopurple-fadingtoyellow boob:

Boxing Day

We kidnapped C6 and played at the beach.

She might be a mermaid, but it's hard when you are also an English Princess and have to take care not to lose your false fingernails. Funniest line : P3 can you pick up that shell for me so I don't hurt my nails?

These are those long summer days you remember.

A Squillion Family Snaps of Christmas Day

What you do when you forget to put the sherry in the trifle. I mean, otherwise, what is the point of trifle?

S-zero checks out whether he is bigger than the turkey or not:

Cooking cooking cooking

Beginning of a firm friendship. It started with eye shadow.

Eating eating eating

Presents presents presents

Wobbliest tooth race between C6 and L6.

Reason number 427 for not marrying one of us - we will make you wear silly earings on Christmas Day. Cousin D puts up with the traditions and still manages to smile.

Christmas Eve

and summer's here.

Tallulah and Panama Bob got treated to new straw, which of course, meant the joy of a straw fight.
If you are a little sister sometimes you just might as well chuck it on your own head:

We harvested strawberries:
and also potatoes. The discarded potato plants made a great dress up costume:

and I think, even though they weren't ready for digging, that we gathered enough for Christmas dinner for fourteen:

But if not, I'm sure the shortfall will be covered by ham, turkey and chocolate.
