Toothy Peg Day

The day I had been dreading for six months (and P10 too, for different reasons) finally came, and we followed up on the orthodontic referrals we were given back in August. Despite the doom and gloom from the tech who referred us, the orthodontist was pretty positive, and so far we have a reprieve.

L13 has crooked bottom teeth, and she would straighten them over a year or so, but then again, they might change anyway. The only reason to rush the decision is because he'll be busier at school in a few years time, and frankly, I'm not thinking that's enough. I think his smile is just peachy, and it seems just because you can do something, it doesn't mean you should. Or maybe I'm just a cheap arse, and cannot see how $7000 could possibly improve this:
(Certainly not more than it would improve my life to get my carpets changed at half the price?! That's terrible eh? Bad mama. Get a job.)

P10's are more dodgy, but again we got off lightly with this freakish x-ray and instructions to come back in a year. For P10 too, the ortho said all the hard parts are in place and it's all lined up ok, so it'll just be crowding issues, which are the easiest to correct. Hurrah for the kind lady in the white coat giving us another year in denial!

Painting Muse

P10 was playing around with headscarves yesterday. I just had to take a pic for painting inspiration. Step aside girl with the pearl earring. . .

Lovely daughter of mine!

Before The Rain

We only had one child for the afternoon, so we went to explore somewhere new. These pics completely fail to capture the stifling heat of this day, but just imagine you are in the tropics, wading through soft sand when you look at them. The sea was such a welcome relief.

New Things And Some Old Things Too

It's great to do new things. Here's me taking a rushed bad selfie this avo, slightly hot and bothered, but who realised what the glaring issue was?

Here's me 45 minutes later WITH NEW EYEBROWS. Like a PROPER GIRL I got pampered a bit. L13 told me I "definitely look younger." Naw. "And  little bit creepy." Tell it like it is, that's my boy. They will calm down once they are over the indignity of being waxed and turning pink - ow.

Also on the new front, I cleaned out the tadpoles we got from a friend across the river, and look - 2 x legs!!

That's just the holding tank I promise, while I cleaned out their real (temporary) home until they are reunited with their pond land.

And this pic is all about how you know you are doing ok as a mother. You ask your kid to donate stuff, and they bother making a sign for the pile, including graphics depicting winds and rough seas    :(

and then she frets that you took a pic and she made a spelling error before self correcting.

Cousins

It was hot walking home after school, so P10 stopped on the way for a quick dip.

M20 did not.

Everyone was in for iced chocolate though!

Bad Phone Pics Of Some Stuff From Today

P10 and I are getting back to walking in the morning. It shouldn't be a chore when I walk here on my way home:

This is photographic proof that you can put tomato plants in at the beginning of spring, completely ignore them, not feed them, not water them, not stake them, and leave them to straggle along the ground being enveloped by grass and pests, and when you eventually get around to looking, you will find that said plants feed you anyway. Good job evolution. Tomato plants rock.

Check out this acid-free baby which turned up:
We found a pumpkin we didn't know we were growing either. That's how bad the need to weed was.

Art Class

is back. I did this the day before, and the background at art class, because I'm nerdy like that.
(It really isn't this crooked - silly photo angle.)

Bob Rossing

with Aunty Iz.

First you cover the canvas in titanium white and linseed oil. Dammit, we're out of linseed oil. Not boding well here.
Mountains. We can do amazing mountains. We are geniuses!!
Oh trees. No happy little trees. Trees you are deceptively tricky.
P10 has walked away in disgust by now. She's wishing evil things on poor Bobby. "Is he dead?" she asked. "Yes". "Good."
Keeping going is always the answer. Once we put the big trees in. . . .
Ta da! Three masterpieces. OK not very masterly ones, but three Bob Ross tributes for sure.

Craft Room

Liking having the crafty room upstairs. I actually painted here today instead of lugging everything out onto the dining table like I used to. I think it's lighter, so it works for painting. Gotta get that pinboard covered though!

I really wanted to upload a pic of the weekend jamming that went on, but it just failed to upload, and it's bedtime for me, so phooey to trying again right now.

Making A Room

for a teen. I liked my purple art room, but needs must. Above the lounge was never a good place for a drum kit, so now L13 has perfectly blokey sort of space of his own.

It has its own balcony, but it had a bit of winter grime going on. L13 soon got onto that.

We Have A Teenager!

Happy birthday L13. It was a bit of an odd one, being the first day of high school. You coped amazingly well. Well done my handsome chap.
